Destination Uppsala AB (DUAB) is a company wholly owned by Uppsala Municipality and is part of the Business and Destination department within Uppsala Municipality. The company is a unifying and driving force to increase the number of visitors to Uppsala and create increased business benefits for the local tourism industry.

Through the Uppsala Convention Bureau, Destination Uppsala has chosen to focus on recruitment to attract more meetings and events to be held in Uppsala.

A Convention Bureau is a non-profit organization that, through national and international meetings and events, contributes to the development and marketing of a location/region. A large part of the daily work involves proactive outreach among local individuals who are active in Swedish and international organizations, associations, and federations. The work is primarily located at our office in the city hall in Uppsala during office hours, but also involves work with local actors in the tourism industry and with associations before and during meetings and events, with some irregular working hours. Evening and weekend work may occur.

Job Description

Your work will be carried out in close collaboration with five colleagues in the team at the Meetings and Events unit, which recruits meetings and events to Uppsala and supports organizers as well as our partners in the meetings and events industry.

Your tasks include actively contributing, together with other team members, to bringing more meetings and events to Uppsala. You will work on actively processing new meetings and sports events, conducting research and gathering statistics, as well as responding to and managing incoming customer inquiries and providing support to organizers. Focusing on customer needs and satisfaction is a given for us.

Your assignment may also involve other tasks within the Business and Destination department as needed.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic background and experience in organizing meetings or events. To succeed in this role, you need to have experience working in the tourism industry or related sectors and in dealing with international contacts. You should also be accustomed to managing multiple projects simultaneously and able to handle a fast-paced environment. Additionally, you need to have good knowledge of digital tools and excellent skills in the Office suite. The job requires you to have very good language skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

We prefer candidates with documented work experience in meeting or event production. It is an advantage if you have experience with agile working methods, working in CRM and registration tools, or experience in a politically governed organization. Knowledge of basic revenue management within the tourism industry is considered a merit.

As a person, you are persistent and work until projects are completed or results are achieved. You take responsibility and drive your work forward to achieve results. The job suits you if you are service-oriented, calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively.
